Finally, bluebird days! I knew the weather was going to cooperate. I had woken up this morning with the intent to work further on the Rainier view, but sadly what clouds there were obscured the mountain. No bother, it just meant more time to set up on the quad, before beginning work again on the two pieces, the 18 x 24” and 22 x 30” morning pieces of the light between Smith and Miller. I worked on the 22 x 30” piece past the previous time window, into the sunlight shining on me, using a piece of foam core board to block the sun from my eyes and piece, to be able to better see the view. As I worked, a young woman in a pink dress and pink cat ears moved from tree to tree, methodically, over the entire hour and a half, taking photos and possibly some video of herself. She appears in this painting three times, once on the foreground path, once before the center tree, once at left. I showed this painting to her afterwards. “This is my best picture, of the whole season!” She excitedly exclaimed. Still, the 18 x 24” piece was incomplete, but I crossed my fingers for one more day to have a chance to do so, without too many clouds in the way. “mon 4.1.24 6:53-7:18am sunrise"
