Dear Art Lover,

Thank you for your patience through last week’s interruption - hopefully I can schedule things in the future so that risk is minimized.

Today I’m sharing my latest 40 x 60 inch plein air watercolor painting.  The venue is a familiar one - Golden Gardens in Seattle, looking out over the Puget Sound.

Featured here is the Shilshole Bay Marina, just south of Golden Gardens, mostly visible through blinding sunlight.  It was fun to work on this one, only my fourth ever piece at this scale for this kind of work (watercolor landscape from life, outside).  I’m not aware of anyone else currently working in this media (watercolor), method (plein air) at this scale (40 x 60”); it’s all an experiment.  Expenses aside, even getting these oversize watercolor papers is challenging - recently I placed an order and a week later it was cancelled with no reason given.  I’m currently out of paper at this scale, as the business I typically order from is the only way I can feasibly get the paper at all.  No complaints, just the realities of trying to do something that’s beyond what I might usually do, or more easily do.
