“Boboports, 2.27.24, Tues, eve”, marker, 9 x 12”, 2024. This fifteen-minute many-head study of Bobo the sheepadoodle was quite fun to make. Marker is an unforgiving but powerful media - large dark marks can obviously be made quickly, and I like the challenge of working in permanent opaque media, black on white, especially for drawing our frequently-moving dog. In this case, he was looking back and forth between me and Amy, looking for food, attention, or to go play in the backyard, or all the above. Finally he laid down for this next sketch…

“5’ Boboport, 2.27.24, eve”, marker, 9 x 12”, 2024. This drawing was made immediately after the previous head studies. Bobo had given up on getting table scraps or going outside, so he laid down in the kitchen. Amy believes he knew he was being drawn for this, and posed. Maybe so.

“2’ Bobosketch, 2.29.24,”, graphite and marker, 9 x 12”, 2024. This drawing is one of my favorites so far of Bobo. He only held this pose for two minutes, so that was how long I had to draw him. I knew I had an upcoming project which might involve a strict black and white combination of media, so this and other works I viewed as practice for that event. I look forward to sharing that work as I can, down the line.
