As we roll into summer, a brief update.

One of the goals I’ve been pursuing recently is to seek out challenge within a practice of plein air (made outside, from life) watercolor painting.  Within the practice, every painting brings new learning, some new color I’ve never seen or tried to paint, a new time of day, a new scene.

Beyond the challenge of the subject matter, the changing light of day, I’ve been adding the challenge of scale - going larger in my work, buying sheets of paper 30 x 42”, working at a scale larger than I have before this year, and going further still, ordering 40 x 60” sheets.  These 40 x 60” plein air watercolor paintings are the largest I’ve made.  One of these 40 x 60” landscape plein air watercolor paintings will be on display at the Best Of Gage show, opening June 16th at Gage Academy.  Thank you, Gage, for the ongoing venue to present work.

Thank you to everyone who turned up for my solo show at Annie’s Art in Ballard.  All of the work from that show that is still available is available on a new section of my site, along with detailed descriptions of how those works came to be.
