Dear Art Lover,

It is with good news that I greet you this Spring.

I am grateful to the staff and board and guest curators of Gage Academy for selecting one of my recent plein air watercolor paintings for inclusion in the auction at their yearly fundraising Collector’s Gala.  It was my honor to be part of this event.  Gage is where I got my start in serious art study when I was 13, and will always hold a place in my heart.  At the grace of the generous guests, Gage successfully matched and far exceeded their targeted fundraising goal.

As part of an upcoming project for Lakeside Magazine, I have accepted the challenge to portray rowing in art, excited by the prospect of being able to do so far better equipped than I was several years ago.  My gratitude goes to the Lakeside coaching staff and athletes for allowing me to join one of their practices last week, to paint from the chase launch itself.  Since then I’ve been in the studio and in Kenmore painting plein air.

To see some of the work from that developing project, as well as the largest-scale watercolors I’ve painted so far, please join me and my community for the Opening Night of my latest show at Annie’s Art and Frame in Ballard, Saturday April 8, 6-9pm.  There will be drink provided and live music too.  It should be a great evening, thanks to the generosity of Annie’s Art.

If you are unfamiliar with Annie’s, this Seattle institution has been my exclusive framer for my entire life, and I cannot recommend their work highly enough.  It was by their hand that the 30 x 42” plein air watercolor donated to Gage’s auction was framed, perfectly as usual.
