Dear Art Lover, This past Saturday was the Opening Reception for the Rhode Island Watercolor Show “Falling Into Winter”, juried by artist Jonathan McPhillips. By the grace of my friends in RI hosting, I was able to attend. Thank you very, very much to everyone at the RIWS for giving me and my friends such a warm welcome. It was fun to be able to meet so many other people also interested in learning about watercolor, and to share with them various techniques and processes for making work. I loved seeing the other paintings on display, in the flesh, and it was my pleasure to meet people I’d only ever spoken with over the phone. My friends and I went out in Providence afterwards, including a visit to the Providence Art Club on the recommendation of one RIWS member. It was a highly enjoyable afternoon and evening, and a reminder that artwork is deeply recognized and valued by the Rhode Islanders who build communities to strengthen artistic investment. Speaking of artistic investment… I couldn’t help myself, buying a painting, a handmade box at the Providence Art Club, as well as closing on a painting by my friend and Gage Classical Atelier instructor Paul Rosiak. If you aren’t on Paul’s email lists, and you are looking for artwork, you can check out his catalog here, and email him directly at: rosiakpaul@gmail.com for availability. I own several of Paul’s paintings now - they are stunning. Cheers, David
