Dear Art Lover,

Yesterday was spent at Lakeside Middle School, working on the paintings for an upcoming issue of the alumni magazine.  Although I cannot share the work yet (have to wait for the magazine to come out!), I wanted to share for anyone reading how grateful I was to have so many conversations with students, staff, and faculty.  A highlight was the fifth grade class who gathered around very close, and upon my invitation, shouted questions rapid-fire from all sides at once.  I tried to field them as best I could, and hope that their day was as enriched as mine.

I am also grateful to the wonderful people at Lakeside and Lakeside Magazine who continue to invest in my work for the magazine.  When I told the fifth graders what the painting was for, their next question was “Did you get paid?

“yes” I replied.  “How much??!”

“That I can’t say”, I told them, to which they replied “why??!”

I love questions from young people.
