Monday, 4.22.24 Dear Art Lover, This is the last full week I’ll be in Seattle before leaving for Flagstaff, AZ (and adjacent areas) for the whole next month and change. I look forward to seeing some really good friends and meeting some new outstanding people down there. I love the desert, I enjoy the open strangeness of it, especially in contrast to the moisture-rich and populated Pacific Northwest. While in Flagstaff, I’ll be one of the artists participating in ArtX Flagstaff in its inaugural year. I’ll be painting outside, exploring a new place, and exposing my art practice to new influence. As a reminder, if you have any intention of setting up pickup of your purchased work, or of buying a work you have your eye on - this week is your LAST full week to do so, before June. I’ll be making new work while in the desert, which I’ll attempt to share and list as I make it. Another reminder: this upcoming arts festival is important to me, beyond just a chance for a change of scenery. Being accepted into the ArtX Flagstaff is the first artist opportunity, residency, grant, or program that isn’t just another group show, to accept me. My gratitude for the sea-change that this is in my career cannot be captured in an email. This acceptance was the first glimpse of true forward motion from this pursuit of exclusive avenues for art visibility. Cheers, David
