With only a week to go before the public opening of my 2023 Holiday Sale, many are familiar with my plein air watercolor paintings (made outside, from life) - but perhaps less acquainted with my plein air drawings.

In my plein air drawings, I combine acrylic paint marker, marker, colored pencil, graphite, watercolor and other media to draw optical plein air landscapes. I do not use photos or any reference - they are made entirely on-site, within the changing light.

While there is a rich visual history of precedent for plein air watercolor, the plein air drawings I make are not inspired by the work of anyone else, or anything else I’ve seen.  I began making them as an experiment, a way to combine various drawing media to make something new and fun.

I’ll be continuing to add to the shop as inquiries about the availability of specific works continues to roll in.  With several sales already, I look forward to learning which pieces you are interested in.
