Location: Coronado, CA

This trip to San Diego was expressly for the purpose of painting large-scale watercolor of pelicans in La Jolla, from life. Alongside that multi-day painting, I made other works around it, including this sunset painting from Coronado Island, one of my favorite places in the country. The sunsets on the beach here are magical, populated, and well-apprecaited by the beachgoers, the locals, and the many people who stopped to take a look at my work. This was one of two 30 x 42” sunset pieces made en plein air on the beach in Coronado.
