It seemed that many of the artists were well and truly done painting once we turned in work on Thursday, 7.18.24, but I wanted to keep working on Friday, because why not? I was there to paint, plus I had the time, the energy. I set up on Dover St, one of the main streets of Easton, to do this street scene, mostly because the glare off the moving cars appealed to me. What was fortunate and not completely planned was painting this same scene the next day for the Quick Draw (two hours to make a painting) competition the next day. I started this piece by making small color sketches of the glare moments, and then going in and working outwards from there, careful to preserve the white of the paper where needed, like the American flags on the lamp posts.
