I went back to Easton Point, the same site as the open-invite paint out to kick of Plein Air Easton, many times. In this occasion, I turned my attention to the land - the boat launch behind me. There is a gas station there, seemingly on the verge of collapse, which was popular with several of the other “competition artists”. I included them in another painting of this scene, made the next day (“Plein Air, 8:40-10:30am, Gas Station at Easton Point, Scott and Antwan painting, 7.17.24”). The porta-potty in the center of the picture contained an enormous and grumpy wasp, as I found out while working on this piece, and as a mom and her two young daughters found out an hour later while I painted. I enjoyed the late morning brilliance of the sun, the heat of the pavement, the haze in the distance, the tremendous humidity.
