This plein air (outside from life) watercolor sketch of the Lakeside School Crew rowing one fine afternoon in Kenmore, WA, was made from the coaching motorboat, starring into the glare of the sun on the water.   There are some fascinating optical effects that working from photo reference doesn’t quite give - effects visible firsthand, on-site, “en plein air” meaning “in the open air”.
