I worked on this piece multiple times over the course of several months, on days where the sky was free of clouds but still retained a bit of moisture, a bit of haze.  I worked on the rocky tidal shore near Centennial Park in Seattle, looking south towards Harbor Island, a grain elevator in the foreground, Mt. Rainier and the shipping loading cranes in the background.  What initially drew me to the scene wasn’t the mountain, the structure, or the water, but the simple glint of light off the floating bull kelp, and the pattern they made on the water’s surface.
