The sky and water this day was fascinating.  The ship, the skyline, those are more like excuses to paint the colors of the smoke-filled sky and water, foils over subjects.  Especially the sky was tinged some of the same electric hues of an oil slick.  I remember it being a bit difficult to breathe this day, but working through the miasma was worth it for the exercise of recording idiosyncratic visual conditions.  Look closely for the ferry in the lower right just heading out of or maybe retiring to its terminal.  As usual when I work “en plein air”, outside, from life, nothing here is invented or contrived - I generally try to paint the scene exactly as I perceive it.
