Emboldened by the success of my wave paintings so far, I tried for another 40 x 60” piece, with no expectations really, only to continue to try to paint what I was seeing. This was just off one of the paths leading to the Pebble Beach at The Sea Ranch. I set up my giant 10 x 10 foot shade tent, and squinted into the sun. I love seeing the sun low in the sky backlighting a wave like a flashlight through a fishtank. The green glow is just sublime. Another optical note - the dark rocks, black in appearance with fresh eyes, can appear very reddish, from the absence of that color in the rest of the landscape, your eyes and brain drained of blues and greens.
