Original Watercolor Figure Painting, “Gloria, Seated”, watercolor, 18 x 24”, 2019

Gloria is one of the best models available in Seattle, and one of the most fascinating people I’ve ever drawn or painted.  No matter the pose or session, her bearing is regal.  In this watercolor painting, I worked in only one color, Payne’s Gray, and worked quickly, likely ten or twenty minutes at most.  First I laid in a mid-tone wash, the lighter gray, leaving space for the white of the paper to help define form.  The darker tone was applied last.
