This was my first time to the Steam Plant, and it was a fruitful trip.  Another painter or two can be seen in the lower righthand corner, as I was with a group of “en plein air” enthusiasts, painters who enjoy working outside, directly from life.  I began very loosely with outlining the white paper for the bright interior lighting, and working darker from there in successive overlapping washes.  The overcast day outside gave a good consistency of soft ambient lighting as a contrast to the warmth of the metal and the interior bulbs.
