I remember having a lot of fun working on this painting, squinting into extremely bright sunlight, hundreds of feet above Puget Sound, looking west from the cliffs of Discovery Park in Seattle.  The waves get lit up in a different, grander way when you gain some elevation over the water’s surface, like being in an airplane where the sun’s glare can ignite an ocean, it seems.  Tiny shaps traversed the blaze, and the far shore of Bainbridge and Bremerton glowed.
