Original Watercolor Painting, “Plein Air, Late Afternoon, 2.7.22”, watercolor, 22 x 30”, 2022

This is one of many paintings I made of the view from my old apartment in the Mt Baker nieghborhood, looking west to North Beacon Hill in Seattle.  A wall blocks the setting afternoon sun from shining directly in my eyes - but an odd-shaped cloud was lit up like molten metal.  At this time this was one of the first if not the first Plein air (outside, from life) watercolor paintings I’d made of this particular time of day and light conditions.
