At the time I made this piece, fall of 2021, it was one of my very first plein air (outside, from life) watercolor paintings of a very typical Seattle “gray” day.  I hand’t seen much of that kind of atmosphere or time of day represented in paintings or photographs, but to me, it’s this mood, this kind of weather that is classically Seattle - sunny but not too sunny, still overcast, calm, full of diffuse light.
