One method of working “en plein air”, outside, from life, without other reference, is to actually remain indoors, looking out of a window - which is how this piece was made.  It was raining heavily that day, and the red glow of the distant taillights is blurred by both the rain in the atmosphere as well as the subtle moisture from my window.  Even in the rain, the city of Seattle is gorgeous.
