Original Watercolor Painting, “Plein Air, Eastlake in the rain from the shelter at gasworks, 10:30-12 noon, 9.27.23”, watercolor, 30 x 42”, 2023

I made this piece from under the shelter at Gasworks Park in Seattle, looking East to Eastlake neighborhood across Lake Union.  This is the neighborhood I grew up in, and the weather of pouring rain, barely able to see the shore, is very familiar.  A few geese populated the water in the mid-ground.  The gray of Capitol Hill was a strange mix of multiple warm and cool hues, always shifting, never static, with a few white hulls and masts of boats poking through the uniform tone.  For this piece, I also made a study, here:  https://davidosmithartist.com/store-2/study-for-plein-air-eastlake-in-the-rain
