I made this painting on an overcast afternoon in Seattle, outside, from life (not from photos), in the “en plein air” tradition, which means “in the open air”.  I try to paint not just on days where the atmosphere I stunning and brilliant, but subtle and nuanced days as well.  A “gray” sky in Seattle is never gray, but always full of color, if you look for it.
