Original Mastercopy Drawing, “Andreyev on a Boat, After Repin”, graphite, 8 1/2 x 11”, 2021

Russian artist Ilya Repin was one of the greatest portrait artists of all time.  His portrait of Andreyev on a boat is one of my favorite of his, a carefree piece of a man enjoying his own company and freedom while at sea.  I had fun sketching this piece quickly in dark soft graphite, as part of a larger series of mastercopies (art made after another artist’s work) completed Fall 2021.
