Original Watercolor Painting, “Plein Air, 4th of July Boats on Lake Union, Afternoon, 7.4.22”, watercolor, 22 x 30”, 2022

This piece depicts the crowd of boats on Lake Union in anticipation of the fireworks show for the Fourth of July.  I enjoyed trying to paint the white hulls of the yachts over the very gentle cross-gradient of the blue to darker blue summertime water.  I was working from the deck / roof of a houseboat in Lake Union, “en plein air”, meaning outside, from life.
