Often I’d make small (8 1/2 x 11”) plein air (outside, from life) drawings like this one from inspiration, unplanned, as the sky one night would be particularly beautiful.  This is one such piece, made from 7:10 to 7:40pm, watching the light change over North Beacon Hill from my old apartment in the Mt Baker neighborhood.  Sometimes I use colored paper, in this case light baby / sky blue, which does some of the heavy lifting for me of having to cover the full surface with coherent optical impressions.
