Original Plein Air Watercolor Painting, “Plein Air, Clouds and Water from Alki, 8.10.23 10:30am-12:30pm”, Watercolor, 30 x 42”, 2023

This painting is a very large-scale watercolor painting made “en plein air” - in the open air - meaning I used no photographic reference, just myself, outside, painting what I saw.  I was below the cement barrier on Alki Beach in Seattle, WA, as the tide was coming in.  I recall that as this painting was nearly finished, the waves soaked a few of my supplies, portfolio and travel bag, etc, so I had to move quickly to save the work from the saltwater.  It was nevertheless a gorgeous summer day.
