Location: St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada

This drawing is the first of five pages of gull drawings, all made from life on the same day on a beach in Port Dalhousie, near St. Catharine’s, Ontario. The gulls here were bold, and would come close almost enough to touch. I loved their dark shadows on the warm sand in the midday sun on the cloudless day, peak July summer on the shore of Lake Ontario. This drawing shows a combination of ballpoint pen and marker, used for darker larger areas.
