The second place I stayed in Flagstaff had two alpacas on the property, and they weren’t shy about coming over to see what I was up to on the other side of the fence. Part of the ArtX festival promotional swag was a small cardboard tube of colored pencils. I promised Festival Director Julie to use the colored pencils at least once to draw something - the alpacas were happy to model. This work foreshadows the incredible quantity and diversity of animals I was to see and draw and paint during Art Tour 2024.
