35.  Original Plein Air Drawing, “Plein Air, Rock Outcropping Fence, Sedona, 5.25.24, Saturday”, graphite and pen, 9 x 12”, 2024

This drawing was made during a day-trip to Sedona, observing the division of a huge rock outcropping by a wooden fence. I liked the way the structure of the fence followed the logic of the curve of the rock. Made as quickly as possible with minimal precision, I was working to sketch a memory, rather than photograph it, without holding up my desert hike more than necessary. It gets hot out there, and exposure and water are real concerns.
