Original Watercolor Painting, “Plein Air, Puget Sound, Discovery Park, 2:30-3:15pm, 8.3.23”, watercolor, 22 x 30”, 2023

I remember making this painting very quickly, having only 45 minutes to work before I was due for another commitment.  I worked as fast as I could, and made some good progress to depict the changing blue of the coming and going tidal currents on Puget Sound, as seen from the cliffs of Discovery Park in Seattle.  Everything but the far shoreline felt very blue on blue, as is the case with unclouded August days where the Olympic mountains are seen from huge distances.
