Due to a demanding schedule, and the last-minute addition of this event to the fall program, I only had a single afternoon to paint my entries. I knew the dimensions of the wallspace, so decided to try for three 30 x 42” pieces, this being the first of those three. The location was offered by the organizers, as a chance for the artists to be able to meet up and meet each other. I appreciate it when there is a suggested painting location for the day, as it is one less aspect I have to generate myself, especially if my time in a new place is limited - show me the best, today. For visitors to Seattle or other places I know well, I offer you the same - to show you the best, today. I had a blast working all afternoon at Moonstone Beach. The colors in the sand are iridescent in the right lighting. I loved to see the sky reflected in the waves, the light brown of the sand within, the reflected white foam on the surface. This work won Best In Show for the Humboldt Open Paint Out.
